Owning the Gaggia Brera
The Gaggia Brera is a compact super-automatic with automated brewing capabilities and easy frothing with its integrated pannarello wand, which is specially designed to aerate milk independently of the user. We like the Brera for being both easy to use and reliable, producing shot after shot to our personal specifications. It’s even kind enough to walk you through descaling it, when the time comes, and the brew group is removable and hand washable for quick clean up. The Brera, much like the Gaggia Classic, is known for being a great value in its class, and it’s flexible, too. The ceramic grinder has five adjustments to accommodate a variety of coffees, and the integrated bypass doser allows for pre-ground coffee brewing.
Programming espresso and lungo buttons on the Brera couldn’t be simpler with its easily navigable LED display. Coffee aroma, strength, and volume are all customizable for both drinks, and, for a double shot, press twice for back-to-back brewing. Gaggia’s Rapid Steam Technology allows for immediate steaming following each shot, and the pannarello wand automatically aerates the milk to perfect cappuccino texture. For added control, a latte art wand is available; and for added convenience, the auto-frothing cappuccinatore can be used in the wand’s place. We think the Gaggia Brera is the best there is for the price point, and we think you will too. If you need a step up in capacity, the Gaggia Velasca is an excellent alternative; or, for absolute control over brewing and steaming, take a look at the semi-automatic Gaggia Classic.
