First Use and Early-Life Setup Issues
Why this matters: A large percentage of Cadorna issues come from setup, priming, and normal operation misunderstandings rather than actual machine failure.
First Setup Checklist
- Confirm model (Style, Plus, Milk, Prestige)
- Remove all packaging materials (internal + external)
- Check inside service door and water tank area for stored parts
- Ensure power cord is fully seated
- Fill and fully seat water tank
- Prime water circuit before diagnosing flow issues
- Confirm brew unit, drip tray, and dreg drawer are installed
- Install milk system components correctly (if applicable)
- Explain normal water discharge into drip tray
Early DOA Screening
Use this section for machines that are new or failed immediately out of the box.
| Symptom | Check | Direction |
|---|---|---|
| No power | Test outlet + cord | Escalate if no response |
| Shuts off during use | Check outlet stability | Escalate if repeatable |
| Internal leak immediately | Identify leak location | Escalate |
| Missing parts | Request photos | Escalate |
| Grinder damage | Do not operate | Escalate |
Flow and Hydraulic Troubleshooting
Core concept: Water path = Tank → Pump → Boiler → Valve → Brew Unit → Output.
Symptom: No Water Flow
Likely Causes
- Tank not seated
- Air lock
- Clogged system (scale)
- Pump not pulling water
- Flowmeter issue
- Internal leak
Checks
- Confirm tank is full and seated
- Listen for pump activity
- Test hot water function
- Check if water exits anywhere
- Remove water filter temporarily
Resolution
- Prime system
- Reseat tank
- Run hot water
- Clean brew unit
- Descale (only if flow exists)
Escalate When
- No flow after priming
- Water leaking internally
- Error 05 persists
Symptom: Weak Coffee / Low Output
Likely Causes
- Grind too fine
- Scale buildup
- Brew unit dirty
- Coffee oils clogging path
Resolution
- Adjust grinder coarser
- Clean brew unit
- Use cleaning tablets
- Descale
Error 05 (Hydraulic Circuit)
Meaning
Water is not moving correctly through the system.
Resolution
- Remove filter
- Prime system
- Run hot water
- Clean brew unit
Escalate When
- No flow at all
- Pump runs but no output
- Machine stuck mid-descaling
Water in Drip Tray / Leak Differentiation
Normal Behavior
- Small water after startup/shutdown
- Water from rinse cycles
- Pressure release water
Abnormal Behavior
- Water under machine
- Rapid drip tray filling
- Reduced coffee output with excess water
- Leaks during idle
Agent Questions
- Where is the water?
- When does it happen?
- Is coffee output reduced?
Escalate When
- Leak under machine
- Heavy internal leakage
- Water bypassing output
Brew Unit Troubleshooting
Core concept: The brew unit moves between HOME and WORK positions. Errors 03 and 04 indicate it cannot complete this movement.
Symptom: Brew Unit Cannot Be Inserted
Likely Causes
- Brew unit not in home position
- Machine not in home position
- Tray/dump box not seated
- Brew unit dirty or misaligned
Resolution
- Reset brew unit to neutral position

- Grinding or gear noise
Symptom: Error 03 / 04
| Error | Meaning | Direction |
|---|---|---|
| 03 | Blocked in work position | Check movement + obstruction |
| 04 | Blocked in home position | Check reset + switches |
Checks
- Was brew unit recently removed?
- Are trays and door fully seated?
- Any heavy buildup inside?
Escalate When
- Error repeats after reset
- Movement fails in test mode
Grinder Troubleshooting
Core concept: Grinder current is monitored. High resistance = blockage. Low resistance = no beans.
Symptom: Grinder Blocked (Error 01)
Likely Causes
- Foreign object
- Oily beans
- Grind too fine
- Clogged burrs
Checks
- Ask what beans are used
- Listen for grinder noise
- Confirm adjustments made correctly
Resolution
- Remove beans
- Clear hopper
- Adjust grind coarser (while running)
- Test with dry beans
Escalate When
- Error persists
- No grinder movement
- Mechanical damage
Symptom: Grinder Not Working (Error 02)
Meaning
Grinder not detected or disconnected.
Escalate When
- Grinder does not activate
- Error repeats
Milk and Carafe Troubleshooting
Core concept: Steam creates suction, pulls milk, mixes with air, and outputs foam.
Symptom: No Foam / Poor Milk
Likely Causes
- Warm milk
- Wrong milk type
- Dirty milk system
- Air intake blocked
- Weak steam
Checks
- Confirm milk is cold
- Test steam output alone
- Check if milk is being pulled
- Confirm parts assembled correctly
Resolution
- Clean milk system
- Rinse all parts
- Clear air intake
- Use fresh cold milk
Escalate When
- No steam output
- Milk not pulling at all
- Leaks or internal steam loss

- Grip main tank body, not trim
- Check alignment
- Avoid pulling faceplate
Escalate When
- Tank cracked
- Faceplate broken
- Tank will not seat
Water Low Message
Important: Sensor is not at bottom of tank. Machine may still complete a cycle after warning.
Checks
- Reseat tank
- Clean sensor area
- Confirm tank is full
Escalate When
- Message persists with full tank
