BIT "Seattle" Shower Screen Overview
The BIT SEATTLE shower screen is a precision milled stainless steel shower screen in collaboration with IMS and designed by Sauro Dall’Aglio for his brand of premium espresso machine components Barista Improving Taste. Featuring the iconic Space Needle, the screen is compatible with a number of brands of commercial espresso machinesDesigned with a significant redistribution and reduction of surface holes, the screen seeks to address the issue of puck degradation that can occur as a result of water forming an aggressive stream in the center. This is often caused by the presence of the shower diffuser screw. By placing a small grouping of holes near the otherwise bald center of the screen, and a wider distribution around the outer edge.
The design promotes a more gentle introduction of water into the center of the puck to help preserve integrity and ensure more even extraction while reducing channeling. It can also reduce excessive water flow in certain machines, allowing for use of a slightly coarser grind while brewing.
Produced by IMS, the BIT SEATTLE Screen is precision made, with clean holes that are free of fragmentation. When used in conjunction with a Barista Improving Taste BoB or Renato filter basket, the effect on water flow becomes even more pronounced.
