The brew water is delivered to the grounds through a shower style head to thoroughly wet all the grounds rapidly for best flavor extraction from the grounds. The DC-1000 has a tough yet lightweight glass carafe that sits on a scratch resistant nonstick-coated warming plate. The warming plate power is programmable so you can set it to automatically shut off, relieving you of having to remember to shut off the coffee brewer before you leave the house.
