Enhanced with the natural beauty of olive wood accents, the ECM Technika V Profi PID is a quality, handcrafted heat exchange espresso machine that builds up on the Technika IV in significant ways. Featuring upgrades including PID temperature stability, a shot timer and stylized steam and hot water controls, the new Technika V is an impressive machine.
The PID offers individual temperature adjustment and maintains the ECM aesthetic with its silvered design. The PID also doubles as a shot timer to help with extraction times. For anyone who pays special attention to the noise an espresso machine can make, expect the Technika V Profi PID to brew quietly with its near-silent rotary pump.
However, the stand out feature here is Technika V Profi PID's ability to switch from its 3 liter water tank to an in-line water connection for an infinite supply, making it flexible for any setting. Working in an office full of coffee drinkers, having that option is incredibly convenient. Of course, the design of an espresso machine always deserves special mention and this one features a handcrafted stainless steel housing, larger pressure gauges for easy reading, and new valves for steam and hot water which feature the ECM logo stamped on the sides.
The olive wood accents replace the steam and hot water taps, E61 brew lever, and the single and double spout portafilters. Compared to the stock components, the olive wood portafilters are made from stainless steel as opposed to chrome plated brass.
Having played with the machine, we can confirm the ECM Technika V Profi PID will make a strong addition to the ECM family. Its solid construction, fresh design, super quiet operation, and the PID shot timer really make it easy to brew a quality drink.
The ECM Technika V Profi PID comes with an angled single spout portafilter, an angled double spout portafilter, a single shot commercial basket, a double shot commercial basket, a blind filter basket, a tamper, a metal 1/8 3/8 BSPP hose, a cleaning brush, and an instruction manual.
The PID lets you control temperatures for brewing and steaming, and it also doubles as a shot timer during extraction. Expect great temperature stability and, if you're adventurous, the ability to tweak temperatures to bring out the nuance in speciality coffees.
The Technika V Profi PID can brew quietly thanks to its rotary pump, which is mounted with anti-vibration technology similar to the Technika IV Profi. Brew without a care.
The Technika V Profi PID can use either its 3 liter water tank or a direct water connection. There is a switch underneath the drip tray to turn off the sensor for the water reservoir.
A 2.1 stainless steel heat exchange boiler lets you brew and steam at the same time to make lattes or cappuccinos quickly.
