Refurbished Gaggia Babila One-Touch Coffee and Espresso Machine

Owing its namesake to the famous San Babila church in Milan, the Gaggia Babila is an automatic coffee and espresso machine that produces specialty coffee drinks at the touch of a button. Designed and manufactured in Italy, the Babila blends timeless Italian aesthetics with Gaggia's 75 plus years of espresso know-how to deliver the best of both worlds in bean-to-cup home espresso brewing.

Program up to 8 specialty one-touch drinks, ranging from espresso, long coffee, classic cappuccinos, and trendy flat whites. Each drink can be customized with your preferred strength, volume, temperature, and taste. Milk beverages are prepared instantly at the push of a button thanks to the hygienic frothing carafe and dual boilers. For barista quality milk suitable for pouring latte art, the manual steaming wand offers precise control over both texture and temperature. The steam wand can also be used to dispense hot water for tea and cocoa. Further refinement of your coffee is offered by the flow restrictor dial between brew spouts. To brew with even taller cups, the brew spouts can be removed for over 6" of clearance.

Coffee is ground fresh for each drink by a pair of durable ceramic burrs with 15 unique grind settings. The bypass doser also allows you to fill the brew unit directly with pre-ground coffee and is perfect for brewing decaf in a pinch. The ample water reservoir holds up to 50.7oz and the bean hopper holds 10.58oz respectively; You can prepare up to 11 drinks before emptying the internal dreg drawer and the monitored drip tray has a capacity of 31.5oz.

Cleaning and maintenance of the machine have been further simplified thanks to the AquaClean water filter (sold separately). Depending on your water hardness, the AquaClean allows you to brew up to 5000 cups without having to descale your machine. The Babila is also programmed with automatic cycles for the brew group, milk carafe, and descaling. You can also program your water hardness to determine when you need to replace the filter or descale your machine.

To conserve energy, the Babila can also be put in eco-mode so that it powers down into a low-energy standby mode after 15 - 180 minutes since its last use.

Stainless Steel Paneling

Both the front paneling and the door to the bean hopper and water reservoir are made from elegant stainless steel. The steel elements are tastefully complemented by the silver painted side panels to round out the overall modern look of the machine.

Programmable One-Touch Brewing

Customize up to 8 one-touch drinks to enjoy at the push of a button. Each drink can be programmed with your preferred strength (5 Levels), volume, temperature (3 Levels), and taste (Delicate, Balanced, Full Bodied). For milk drinks you can also specify the amount of milk used. The strength setting can also be manually overridden on a per drink basis by using the aroma button located on the front of the machine. This also allows you to brew using pre-ground coffee via the bypass doser. The Babila can prepare the following drinks at the touch of a button:

Flow Adjustment Dial

For additional refinement of your drink, the flow adjustment dial located in the brew spouts allows you to restrict or increase the flow of water through the grounds. Use an increased flow for espresso lungo and coffees and a more restricted flow for crema rich ristretto and espresso.

Steaming and Hot Water

The Babila has a dedicated steam boiler to produce steam and hot water instantly. The auto frothing carafe can be used to produce specialty milk drinks at the touch of a button and is certified by the independent German VDE institute for its hygienic performance. A separate steaming wand can be used to manually froth milk in a pitcher for even greater control over texture and temperature. The steam wand can also be used to dispense hot water for tea and hot cocoa.

Ceramic Burr Grinder

Coffee is ground fresh with a pair of ceramic burrs for increased precision and minimal heat transfer. With 15 unique grind settings you can dial in the perfect grind to suit your exact preferences.

Reservoir and Bean Hopper

The water reservoir holds to 50.7oz and can be removed from the machine for easy refilling. The bean hopper features an aroma preservation lid and can store up to 10.58oz of whole bean coffee.

AquaClean Water Filter

When installed, the AquaClean water filter (not included) eliminates the need for descaling for up to 5000 cups depending on water hardness. The filter also ensures that you're brewing with clear, purified water for optimal coffee flavor. Additionally, the descaling alarm will be automatically deactivated once the filter is installed.

Removable Brew Group

At the heart of the machine is Gaggia's patented removable brew group. The brew group tamps the ground coffee automatically for a perfect extraction every time. For ease of cleaning and maintenance, the brew group can be removed and rinsed to protect the longevity and performance of your machine.

Cleaning and Maintenance

The Babila comes programmed with three maintenance cycles that can be accessed through the Machine Settings Menu. The following maintenance options can be selected to keep your machine in tip top shape:

Brew Group: This cycle is designed for use with the Gaggia Coffee Clean Tablets and will rinse the brew group several times to eliminate built up oils and rinse off any loose coffee grounds.

Carafe Clean: This cycle will rinse the milk carafe. There is also an option to toggle automatic rinsing of the carafe to trigger after each use. There is also a carafe clean button located on the front of the machine to run this cycle at any time.

Descaling: An automated descaling cycle for use with Gaggia Decalcifier. You can program in your water hardness using the included test strip to have the Babila alert you automatically when it's time to descale.

Energy Saving

To reduce power consumption, the Babila features a low energy standby mode. You can program the machine to power down between 15 - 180 minutes after its last use.
